SCHOOL SUPPLIES TIME! The Sunday School is in the final weeks of gathering school
supplies. Bags will be packed in mid September. Please continue to bring in
any supplies you can with additional needs for rulers, scissors, and writing
paper. Any money contributed will be used to buy erasers and pencil sharpeners.
Just write "Sunday School" in the "other" area on your envelope.
THE PEOPLE IN NEED food pantry of Delaware has need for the following items this month: Ramen Noodles, Muffin Mix, Canned Milk, Kidney Beans, Rice, Cereal, Jell-o, Canned Peas, Fruit Cocktail, Pears, and Saltine Crackers. The PIN is still in great need of diapers (all sizes, especially #5 & #6 - no preemies, please) and clean baby food jars.

Help us praise the Lord this summer by providing special music during either
an 8am or 10:30am service. Vocalists or instrumentalists, solos, duets, trios

FAMILY PROMISE will conduct their Core Meeting on August 19th @ 7:00. This Core
meeting is held at St. Mark's and is open to the public and to all those interested
in becoming involved with the Family Promise cause.
BISHOP HOLLOWAY will be visiting us on Sunday, September 7th. We are planning
a potluck luncheon following the 10:30 service. Please bring your favorite dish
and join us all in the Fellowship Hall. The meat and drinks will be furnished.
KITCHEN - Are you missing any dishes? There are several dishes in the kitchen
that may be missing from your home. Please check to see if any are yours and
take them home.
COME JOIN A RETREAT WITH US! The Central Ohio Conference of the WELCA has planned
a Fall Retreat at Lutheran Memorial Camp in Fulton, Ohio for the weekend of
October 17 & 18th. The cost is $60 for lodging Friday night, Friday dinner,
and breakfast & lunch on Saturday. The activities begin Friday with dinner.
Afterwards there will be line dancing, chair exercises, Bible study, and a few
surprises. Reservations and payment is required by September 26th. For more

the office door.
HOW ABOUT LUNCH? Come and join the Third Tuesday Senior Club on August 19th
to go to the G/R Tavern in Waldo. They serve the "world's largest bologna
sandwich" so that will be a treat. We will meet at the church at 11:30.
If you would like to join us you will be most WELCOME!
ST. MARKS' MUSIC MINISTRY is searching for a Youth Choir director and a Praise
Band leader who will plan our praise services and lead the Sunday morning services.
Interest has been shown in both positions but the Worship Team would like to
know if there are other persons who would be interested in applying for these
ways to use your talents in serving the Lord in our worship here at St. Mark's.
If you would like to apply or need more information please call the church office
or Lois Maxwell at 740-369-4183. We would like to have these positions filled
by the beginning of September or shortly thereafter when our music choirs return
from their summer respite.
THANK YOU -- Friends, Many thanks for your thoughts, prayers, and cards. I'm
very lucky thanks to great doctors and nurses and especially fortunate I haven't
had to have surgery. I'm lucky to have a family that's taking care of things,
but I thank you for your help and offers (especially the Garden Girls). Please
do me one favor: Keep track of your blood pressure and other vitals!

THE COLUMBUS CLIPPERS - Ticket prices are determined on how many you buy so get a group together and go enjoy the game! "Church Group Night" is scheduled for Friday, August 22nd when the Clippers play the Richmond Braves @ 7:25pm. For all the details see the bulletin board in the narthex. FAITH AND FAMILY NIGHT AT THE CREW - Come to Crew Stadium and support the LSS and Faith Mission by watching the Crew take on the New England Revolution on Saturday, September 6th @ 7:30pm. After the game Hawk Nelson will perform. A portion of all ticket sold on www.riverradio.com will go towards supporting Lutheran programs and services. Tickets are $19 per person and only tickets purchase at the website mentioned above will benefit the LSS.
CROP WALK -- This year's CROP walk will be held on October 5TH. We will meet
at Hamilton-Williams on the campus of OWU at 1:30 for registration. The walk
will begin promptly at 2:00 and finish at the First Presbyterian Church with
a cook out.

Sunday, September 28 - Fall Fest Saturday, December 6 - "Journey to Bethlehem: @ Williston campus. This is and outdoor "walk through the nativity." Sunday, December 14th will be the traditional Christmas Eve service celebrating with song and scripture.

CAMP MOWANA FALL FESTIVAL AND BENEFIT AUCTION October 5th is your opportunity to bring the entire family to Camp Mowana to enjoy autumn at its festive best! Enjoy live music, great food, hayrides, crafts and more. The Benefit Auction will feature handmade quilts, fine hand crafts, theme baskets and many other unique items. There will also be pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, and pumpkin carving for the kids. All proceeds will benefit summer camperships for deserving youth. Come out and enjoy all the fun! LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES is excited to bring Dr. Tony Campolo to the Columbus area on Sunday, September 14th @ 7:00pm at The Church at Mill Run in Hilliard (3500 Mill Run Drive). Dr. Campolo is an internationally recognized speaker on religious, social, and political issues. He will speak on being called to serve those in need. He is the author of 35 books, his latest being, "Letters to a Young Evangelist", "The God of Intimacy and Action," and "Red Letter Christians, a Citizen's Guide to Faith and Politics".
